The salary of the mayors of Ibiza: this is how much they earn in each town hall

The Ministry of Civil Service has updated the Salary Information Space for Administration Positions (ISPA) with data from 2024, which makes it possible to know the current salaries of mayors across the country. In the case of Ibiza, the salaries show significant differences between municipalities and also reflect increases compared with 2020, the last year available for comparison. All of them hold their positions on an exclusive, full-time basis.

The mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, receives the highest remuneration on the island, with €68,293 per year — a significant increase compared with the €59,540 earned in this position in 2020. He is followed by the mayor of Sant Antoni, Marcos Serra, whose remuneration stands at €60,180, virtually identical to the €59,000 recorded four years ago.

In Sant Josep, headed by mayor Vicent Roig, the remuneration reaches €59,000, compared with €54,000 in 2020 — a considerable increase over this period. The case of Santa Eulària, led by mayoress Carmen Ferrer, is striking: according to ISPA, the mayor’s salary is €38,296, far below the €58,087 declared in 2020. However, this appears to be an error, since a public document from the City Council states that her salary was €63,888 in 2023.

The Sant Joan City Council, chaired by Tania Marí, appears on the official list as one of the institutions that have not submitted their data to the Ministry, so the mayor’s remuneration does not appear in the 2024 salary report. However, the figure for 2023 was made public: the mayoress receives €52,272 per year, the lowest salary among all mayors in Ibiza, as previously reported by this newspaper.

Island councils

As for the island councils, the president of Ibiza, Vicent Marí, who also works on an exclusive basis, receives the highest salary: €76,579. He is followed by the president of Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés (€75,703.27), and the president of Menorca, Adolfo Vilafranca (€63,278.04). ISPA notes in its report that the island government of Formentera has not provided the salary data for its president.

The ISPA publication makes it possible to compare the salaries of public officials across Spain on an annual basis and forms part of the state’s commitment to transparency in the management of local administrations.
