If anything characterizes the lineup of the second edition of the electronic festival SDL The Rocky Desert, to be held this Saturday in Sa Pedrera de Sant Antoni, is the energy. The organization has opted for a very eclectic program but with the common denominator of powerful sounds. They range from the funk and hypnotic house of the Swiss Deer Jade, to the percussive tribal house of the British Mele, the Afrohouse of the Londoner Kitty Amor or the garage and hip hop of the Swedish Anastazja. The line-up will be completed by the Turkish Cumhur Jay, the Mapuche-Ibizan Camila Ramírez, with a more Latin vibe, the Danish Harty!, the New Zealand Katanagi Twins, Kythmos and Piro, in an evening that will begin at six in the afternoon and will last until three in the morning, designed for dancing in one of the most magical settings on the island.

“The place does a lot”adrián Rodríguez, organizer of the festival under the Sueños de Libertad label, admits that he is proud to have recovered for music a space that needs no decorations or fiddles, because the stone creates a perfect natural stage with a Martian look.
“I hope we repeat last year’s success, with a full house, and what we are getting through networks and people’s interest I think they lead us that way. The space is what most surprised those who did not know it, but also the level of the artists, which we maintain in this second edition. And then word of mouth has worked very well. There are people who missed it last year and kept asking me when we were going to repeat,” said Rodriguez.
In addition to the main stage there will be another smaller and more secluded one, which has been called ‘Hot Club’, an area for food trucks and different experiences. “We want people to move beyond the music and enjoy themselves. The main objective is that everyone who goes has a good time,” says Rodriguez.
It will be the first part of a two-day festivalalthough not on consecutive days, as there will be a second part on September 13. “Instead of two days in a row, which I think sometimes people get tired of, we have decided to do it in one day at the beginning of the summer and another almost at the end, but the set-up is the same,” says the organizer.
Eclecticism
Rodriguez also highlights the commitment to eclecticism within the framework of electronic music: “We have opted for artists with a very strong personality, but with different styles, both from abroad and from the island and from here. It is a very open and very interesting range that I think will give a lot of play,” says Rodriguez. It also follows the line marked last year with Kilimanjaro, with a clear look towards the rhythms inherited from Africa.
Rodriguez shows his gratitude to the City Council of Sant Antoni for the support they have given to this project: “Some people might have thought it was a crazy idea what we wanted to do and where we wanted to do it and the City Council decided to trust in the project, so without them it would not have been possible,” says Rodriguez.
