Bad seas and rain: storm Ephraim puts Ibiza and Formentera on alert

Rain on Ibiza: Aemet activates the yellow alert for bad sea for three days

December has started off rainy and will stay that way until this Thursday due to the arrival of an ‘atmospheric river’ driven by the storm Ephraim as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet)

The Aemet has activated the yellow alert for bad sea over three days on Ibiza and Formentera.  The alert began on Monday at 6pm and ended at 3:59am with wind from the southwest, gusts of 45 to 55 kilometers per hour (force 6 to 7) and waves of two to three meters

On Tuesday, a southwesterly wind is expected with gusts of 50 to 60 kilometers (force 7) and waves of three meters. The alert will be activated at 6pm and will end at 23:59pm

Wednesday’s forecast west and southwesterly wind with gusts of 50 and 60 kilometers per hour (force 7) and waves of three to four meters. The alert will be active from midnight until 7:59am

Rain forecasted

Today, showers are expected from 6am to 6 pm with a probability of 85 and 90%. Minimum and maximum temperatures will be between 15 and 19 degrees.

On Wednesday the probability of precipitation lowers to 35%. Skies will remain overcast and the mercury will be between 14 and 21 degrees

On Thursday the rains return, 60% and 40% probability and in the afternoon it will be cloudy and clearing. Lows and highs of 13 and 19 degrees

Friday will be clearing clouds with a 40% chance of precipitation. Lows and highs of 11 and 18 degrees

The weekend looks to be rain-free for the time being with cloudy to clear skies and minimum and maximum temperatures of 10 and 18 degrees.
