All the program of the festivities of Sant Jaume in Formentera

The president of the Consell insular de Formentera, Óscar Portas, and the councilor of Culture, Eva Nieto, have presented this Monday the poster and the official program of the Fiestas de Sant Jaume 2025, the most important cultural and festive event of the insular calendar, which this year has a wide range of cultural, institutional and musical activities, from Friday 11 to Tuesday 29 July.

This program, which is organized around July 24 and 25, the festivities of Sant Jaume and Diada de Formentera respectively, again combine traditional events with first-class musical proposals and family activities designed for all audiences.

Culture, music and tradition

The activities will start friday, July 11 with the presentation of the book ‘Formentera’ by Henri Quilléby Tanit Quillé, Martí Lucena and Sophie Cambrillat, who will share reflections on this work dedicated to the architectural and human view of Quillé on the island. The event will be held at the Antoni Tur “Gabrielet” Center at 8:00 pm.

The wednesday, july 23the festive atmosphere will fill the streets of Sant Francesc with the parade of Girafes (Xirriquiteula Teatro), followed by a family concert by Xiula in the Plaza de la Constitución from 7 pm.

The thursday, july 24 will take place the institutional act of the Diada de Formentera, with musical performances by Lucía Herranz Roig and Miquel Tur Torres at the Jardí de ses Eres (7.30 pm). The night will continue with concerts by Seguridad Social, General Levy and DJ Giorgio Sampler (10:30 p.m., Plaza de la Constitución).

The friday, July 25, Sant Jaume’s Day, will begin with the traditional mass in the church of Sant Francesc (20 h), followed by a ballada popular with es Pastorells and es Xacoters (21.00 h). The musical night will continue with concerts by Maria Hein and Els Catarres (22.30 h).

On Saturday, July 26, the Sala de Cultura (cinema) will host the dramatized concert Les metamorfosis by SolNegre (8 p.m.), while in the evening there will be the Noche Joven with Tur, Flaco Fer, Gawchito and Day-N (10 p.m., Plaza de la Constitución).

The sunday, July 27, the Day Center will host a cantada pagesa followed by a ballroom dancing session with DJ Karlos (6 pm). At 10 pm, Jazz in the square will feature the special participation of Joan Soler Trio.

The monday, July 28the exhibition ‘Paissatges essencials’ of the artist Enric Riera will be inaugurated at the Exhibition Hall of the Old Town Hall (20.00 h), which can be visited until August 9.

Finally, on Tuesday, July 29th, the program will close with a session of Cinema a la fresca with the pianist Jota Hidalgo, with the screening of the film ‘Sunrise: A song of two humans’, by F.W. Murnau (10 pm). Murnau (22.00 h, ses Eres garden).

Sport and participation

In parallel, between July 25 and 27, the John Tunks Memorial Tennis and Paddle Tournament will be held, with male, female and mixed categories. Registrations can be made until July 22 at the municipal courts.
