The price of rent in Ibiza and the rest of the Balearic Islands has risen by almost 600 euros over the past five years

The price of rent in Ibiza, Formentera and the rest of the Balearic Islands has increased by an average of 135 euros per month over the last year and by nearly 600 euros (592) over the past five years.

According to data from the real estate index of the specialised company Fotocasa, published this Wednesday, the archipelago is the second autonomous community with the highest monthly increase in absolute terms compared to the previous year, only behind Catalonia (with an increase of 303 euros per month).

In the Balearic Islands, the recorded increase in rental prices over the last two years has been 166 euros; over the last three years, 404 euros; and over the last four years, 570 euros. These figures represent rises ranging from 10% in the last year to 64% over the last five years.

The real estate index places the average price of an 80-square-metre home in the Islands at 1,523 euros, according to data from October this year. The same apartment cost 1,388 euros a year ago and 931 euros five years ago.
