PP defeats with the left Vox’s proposal to eliminate Catalan from education in Balearic Islands

The PP has overturned with the support of the left the 34 Vox amendments approved in error in the simplification decree, which included the elimination of Catalan as a vehicular language in education and as a requirement for civil servants. “There was never any material will for the amendments to be approved, this government has insurmountable red linesin this way, the Parliament has ratified the decree to correct the 34 amendments of the ultra-right-wingers.

The debate to overturn these amendments has shown the maximum tension that exists between PP and Vox in the Balearic Islands, with the Popular Party charging hard against the ultra-right-wingers for having carried out “blackmail” with its demand to suppress the Catalan language in the classroom to support the budget. “Vox refused to allow the error to be corrected in a self-serving way to gain political advantage. It may be lawful, but it is neither ethical nor honest. When they speak they already sound like Podemos, they are not credible,” said Marga Durán.

“The PP is the cancer of Spain”

For her part, the spokesperson for Vox, Manuela Cañadas, has accused the PP of “to be the cancer of Spain together with the PSOE“. The ultra-right-wing spokeswoman has accused the Popular Party of “to follow the agenda dictated by the Catalanist lobbies“They have deceived their voters and have sold their principles, assuming the language and the theses of the left. Together with the PSOE they are the cancer of Spain,” he said.

In the case of the parties of the left, they have defended that this pact with the Popular Party can mean the beginning of a framework of great consensus in the politics of the Balearic Islands. “Today’s day has an important symbolic value because those of us who are different will vote in favor of some basic pillars for democracy”, said the spokesman of Més per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia.
