The best plans for the weekend on Ibiza and Formentera

Christmas begins to illuminate the villages the weekend and Sant Francesc celebrates its big day of festivities.

The Christmas program begins this Friday in different municipalities of Ibiza and Formentera with the lighting of the Christmas lights and the premiere of the trees and several Christmas markets that will be in place throughout the holidays. Eivissa, Santa Eulária, Sant Antoni and Formentera have chosen the same day to light up Christmas this weekend.

This weekend Sant Francesc also celebrates their big day of festivities on Saturday with food, atmosphere and music throughout the day and to close a new year of Sa Flower, with music and a party from 8pm in the Plaza de la Constitució.

Also this weekend, the festival Mal del Cap of alternative art is celebrated. The activities began this Wednesday and continue until Saturday. At the closing party at Can Jordi the awards for the best short films will be presented and Hostal Pascual and Manolo Solo y los Also Starring will play.

There is also theater this weekend, with two new plays by the amateur theater program Pedro Cañestro. On Saturday “Ocho mujeres”, by the Companyia de Teatre Arts i Oficis, at the Cervantes cultural center in Sant Antoni, and on Sunday “Clic, cuanto todo cambia”, by La Experimental, at Can Jeroni.

Music will be the highlight over the weekend and on Sunday at es Caló de s’Oli, with the festival ‘Vudú & Blues Fest’. There will be dance on Saturday at Can Ventosa with “Leira”, by Nova Galega de Danza.

And also note that on Thursday a new season of Supermercat de l’Art opened, with works by Ibizan artists at affordable prices in Garden Art Gallery in Sant Josep.

Christmas

Eivissa:

6:30pm Inauguration of the Christmas lighting and tree in Vara de Rey with a performance by the Coro Infantil de la Escuela de Música and Christmas parade.

Opening of the Christmas market. Every day from 11am to 2pm and from 5pm to 9pm until January 6th.

Opening of the skating rink. Monday to Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 11am to 1:30pm and from 4:30pm to 9pm.

Santa Eulària:

4pm to 8pm: Festijocs. Installation of games for children from 0 to 4 years by Lîla Jocs Reciclats. Free admission. C/ Sant Jaume, 4th floor.

Sant Antoni:

7:30pm: Presentation of ‘Ho ho Merry Christmas’, by Ape Dream Dance, in the Passeig de ses Fonts.

9:30pm: Concert by Villanrock in the Mercat de Nadal.

Formentera:

5pm: Inauguration of the Mininadal with the show ‘Tea’, by Moskitas Muertas.

6pm: Lighting of the Christmas lights and inauguration of the Christmas Market in the Plaza de la Constitució.

Festival Mal del Cap

Screening of short films in competition and screening of ‘Mantícora’, by Carlos Vermut, and discussion with its protagonist, Nacho Suárez. From 7:30pm at the cultural center Can Jeroni in Sant Josep.

Sant Francesc Festival
