The City Council of Ibiza has organized a wide and diverse program of activities for the celebration of the Nit de Sant Joan, which will take place on Monday June 23, with proposals spread over five different areas of the municipality. The party will start at 7 pm and will last until midnight, with live music, DJ sessions, entertainment for all ages and the traditional foguerons, as reported from the Consistory in a statement.
The alderman of Festivities and Citizen Participation, Francisco Torres, explained that this year “the model of decentralized party is maintained for to bring the celebration to different neighborhoods encouraging coexistence and participation”. Torres added that, as in the previous edition, he will personally visit the five points of the festival to share this special night with the citizens: “La Nit de Sant Joan is a long-awaited event for everyone and we want everyone to enjoy it safely, joyfully and in company”.
Different scenarios
The talamanca beach will be one of the main stages, where the party will start at 8 pm with a session by the Ramønes DJs. At 9 p.m. there will be a concert by the group Que me quiten lo bailao, and from 10 p.m. onwards the DJ’s will return to the stage to continue livening up the evening until midnight. In this space will also be distributed 250 servings of macaroons among the attendees.
In the neighborhood of ses Figueresthe event will take place on the terrace of the Hotel Ses Figueres, where from 9.30 p.m. onwards you will be able to enjoy a concert by the group Los del Varadero they will offer a performance with seafaring and popular rhythms in a close and familiar atmosphere.
The ses Figueretes beach will host one of the most complete and family parties of the day, under the title “Back to the hits”. From 19 to 24 hours, the space will feature DJ sessions, singers, dancers, a children’s piñata, photocall, gifts and many more surprises, as detailed from the Consistory. The City Council has set up a specific area for the elderly and people with functional diversity, to ensure accessibility and enjoyment for everyone. There will also be 40 holes to light bonfires, and 250 rations of macarrons free of charge.
Within the framework of the festivities of the Asociación de Vecinos San Pablo, another of the highlights of the night, will be the proclamation and the performance of the group Esta me la sé, from 22.15 hours. At 24 hours will be the lighting of the bonfire, as the highlight of the evening.
Finally, the platgeta de sa Punta (EsViver) will also join the celebration, with live music and DJ sessions from 8 pm until midnight. In this space will be enabled 15 holes for bonfires, where you can make fire safely.
In order to facilitate a controlled and safe party, the City Council will distribute a total of 120 lots of firewood among the people who participate in the events where bonfires have been set up. The City Council recalled that fire will only be allowed to light fires in authorized and enclosed areas, specifically in ses Figueretes and sa Puntasince the rest of the areas are not considered urban beaches and, therefore, fire is not allowed for safety reasons and environmental regulations.
The alderman Francisco Torres wanted to emphasize that “this program is the result of the desire to open the festivities to the whole city, adapting them to different sensitivities and audiences, and keeping alive the participatory and community character of the Nit de Sant Joan”.
Finally, from the City Council has asked for the cooperation of citizens to ensure a respectful celebration with the environment, civic and safe, and encourages everyone to enjoy a night full of tradition, joy and brotherhood. It has also been reported that from the Department of Equality will collaborate with the installation of lilac points to inform, raise awareness, prevent and address sexist attitudes and sexist behaviors that occur in public spaces, whether leisure and festive as other spaces of public interest.
