The last week of August arrives with important weather changes. During these days a DANA is approaching Spain, the second of the month, which could bring strong storms and a drop in temperatures.
Especially from this Thursday onwards, the weather will change, although later on we will return to typical September weather.
During Wednesday, the DANA is expected to descend and position itself off the coast of Portugal by the end of the day. From this position, the instability in Spain would increase considerably on Thursday, according to the latest forecasts.
Summer droughts will recur more frequently
It is likely that in the early hours of Thursday morning will be generated storms which would move from south to north, starting in Andalusia. However, the forecasts still present a high degree of uncertainty, which makes it difficult to precisely locate the affected areas.
Areas most impacted by the DANA
Despite this, it is expected that the most impacted regions will be the central and western fringe of the countryfrom Cรกdiz to Bilbao, including Madrid.
These storms could be strong, with heavy rainfall in short periods of time. They could also be accompanied by significant wind gusts.
During midday and afternoon, storms are expected to spread and possibly increase in intensity towards the end of the day. The most affected areas would continue to be the west and center of the country, with special emphasis on Castilla y Leรณn, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid, La Rioja and Navarra.
The fridayintense precipitation will be repeated, especially in the early morning, in the central part of the country. During the afternoon, storms would spread again, affecting areas similar to those of Thursday.
Although the DANA would weaken during the weekendthe forecast for the weekend is for showers and thunderstorms to persist in several areas of the country, as the DANA is expected to remain off the coast of Portugal.
