Heavy rainfall from the DANA passing over Ibiza and Formentera throughout the early hours of the morning and part of this Saturday morning. In the early hours, and according to the information provided by AENA on its website, almost 40 flights that had to land or take off from es Codolar airport had suffered delays. In addition, one to Cologne had to be cancelled.
The air traffic controllers have published on their social networks a video showing how the storm, with a strong electrical charge, has passed through the Pitiusas.
The heavy rains have caused some flights that had to land at Ibiza airport, such as one from Madrid and another from Seville, have suffered four hours of delay.
The planes that had to take off from es Codolar have also suffered changes in their schedules. The flight that was to Madrid at 7.50 a.m. and finally took off at 12.10 a.m. and another one to Seville that should have taken off at 8.30 a.m. and finally did so at 11.23 a.m.
Several routes from Ibiza to Palma have also suffered delays. In addition, a flight has been cancelled that was to have departed at Cologne at 8:30 a.m.
The Emergency Service 112 of the Balearic Islands has updated the severity indexes (IG) active this Saturday. Thus, currently, the IG1 for rains is active in Mallorca and Menorca, while the IG0 of the Meteobal Plan for rains is active in Ibiza and Formentera.
In a message in the social network X, the Emergency Service has asked for great caution and remember the importance of being aware of the updates of the warnings of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). It also offers protection advice, such as securing doors and windows to prevent water from entering the house; avoid water sports; reduce speed and keep a safe distance when driving; stay away from torrents; in the countryside, do not take shelter under trees; and, finally, avoid places where there may be landslides.
It should be noted that Aemet in the Balearic Islands maintains active warnings for risk and significant risk of rain and storms in Mallorca and Menorca. It has deactivated, on the other hand, the warnings in Ibiza and Formentera.
Two fires in Ibiza
This Saturday morning, the Firefighters of Ibiza have extinguished two fires after two trees burned as a result of lightning from the storm.
The firefighters have left the Parque Insular de Bomberos at 7.50 am. Four of them have moved to Sant Josep and four others have gone to Camí de Atzaró, in Santa Eulària, in both cases to extinguish the flames caused by the impact of lightning on two trees.
There have been no personal injuries, according to the firefighters.
