A judge has ordered the mother of a 12-year-old boy involved in some Manchester riots to appear in court, after she decided to fly to Ibiza instead of attending the hearing, according to itv.com.
The judge said she was “frankly shocked.” that the child’s mother was abroad enjoying a five-day break after the minor admitted to two counts of violent disorderly conduct. She therefore deferred sentencing of the child (who is too young to be identified) and ordered a summons to the parents for the mother to appear in court to explain her actions.
The boy, who was accompanied to Manchester Magistrates’ Court by his uncle, had previously admitted being part of a mob that attacked a bus outside a hotel housing asylum seekers in Manchester on July 31.

Days later, on August 3, in Manchester city center, he was part of a group that was filmed kicking out the windows of a vape store and throwing a projectile at a police van.
It should be recalled that dozens of towns and cities suffered from a outbreak of violence following the murder of three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class at Southport july 29.
The judge was told that the boy’s mother was not present, as she was had booked a vacation in July and had gone abroad.
He thanked the boy’s uncle for accompanying his nephew to court in his mother’s absence, but added: “A day before the hearing we learned that the mother had gone on vacation and was not with her son, who played a major role in the recent civil disorder. I am frankly astonished.”
“I will need the mother to give me a full explanation for her decision to go on vacation a day before her 12-year-old son was due to appear in court to face a possible prison sentence,” the magistrate said. “This is a serious situation, which will affect my opinion of the case, because of the mother’s actions,” the judge noted.
“She is on notice. I am going to question her about this decision,” she remarked.
“Kids like you need their mothers in their lives. I need your mother here,” the judge explained, addressing the juvenile as she adjourned sentencing until Sept. 11.
