Reported missing in Ibiza after spending 18 hours straight in several gambling halls

The Civil Guard in Ibiza has reported the location of a 39-year-old man whose disappearance was notified by his relatives on 28 November. The report was filed after the man left his home the previous night intending to withdraw money from an ATM and did not return. He stopped answering his phone and failed to make contact with anyone close to him.

Given the family’s concern that something serious might have happened to him, officers from the main post in Sant Antoni activated a search operation, mobilising all available resources. Several hours after the investigation began, the man was located in a gaming hall on the island. Following the necessary checks, officers determined that he had spent a total of 18 consecutive hours in different gambling establishments.

The Civil Guard notes that gambling addiction is a disorder that can lead to compulsive behaviour and situations with serious personal and family repercussions. It also stresses the importance of those suffering from this problem receiving professional support and having access to specialised therapists or support groups to confront and overcome this dependency.
