Mercat Can Nadal: a charity Christmas market supporting local commerce and the fight against cancer on Ibiza
The 1st Mercat Can Nadal, which on December 17th and 18th at the Fairgrounds will bring together more than 25 stalls of local businesses and artisans and a space where IFCC will organize raffles, lotteries and auctions.

The Mercat Can Nadal, which will be held on December 17th and 18th at the fairgrounds, was created with the aim of supporting local trade and crafts and also to help the Ibiza y Formentera Contra el Cáncer (IFCC) association to raise funds.

The Consell de Ibiza promotes the Mercat Can Nadal, which will bring together “five local artisans and 24 establishments on the island, including bakeries, toy stores and stores of fashion, sports and home”.

As the Councilor for Economic and Business Promotion and Municipal Cooperation, Maria Fajarnés, commented yesterday at the presentation of the event, Mercat Can Nadal has a philosophy similar to the Christmas market ‘Som Comerç’, which was launched in December 2020, although as well as the objective of encouraging purchases in local stores on Ibiza,. a charity aspect has been added.

IFCC will have a space where it will offer various fundraising activities such as raffles, lotteries and auctions and, in addition, will be responsible for managing the cafeteria, which “will be open only for adults”. This was explained by the president of the association, Helen Watson, after thanking the Consell for inviting her to be part of this initiative. “The association has been supporting cancer patients on the Pitiusas Islands for 21 years and it is thanks to events like this that we can continue our work and raise money, for example, to buy some chairs for chemotherapy treatment in the day hospital of Can Misses, to buy cars for the Palliative Care Unit or to offer financial help to the increasing number of people who can not make ends meet because of their illness and the cost of living, which is rising,” said Watson.

Mercat Can Nadal: December 17th and 18th

To energize the Christmas market, the Consell de Ibiza has scheduled various leisure activities on December 17th and 18th. Children will have access to various workshops, including makeup and Christmas decoration.
