Marina Ibiza has been named the second most sustainable marina by the Sustainability Observatory. This citizens’ association, after analysing the various actions carried out by the marina and following compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the framework of the UN Agenda 2030, has rated the marina as the second most sustainable, Marina Ibiza reported yesterday in a press release.
According to the press release, since its inception, this marina has been “has stood out for its management system focused on the care and preservation of the environmentapplying this premise in all the actions it carries out, with the aim of being sustainable and promoting good environmental habits among its customers and visitors”.
Among these actions, the note cites, for example, the installation of floating litter garbage cans such as the Seabin or the Geneseas floating vacuum cleaner, which collect and clean the surface of the water of micro and macroplastics with a filtering system. The cleaning of debris from the seabed is another initiative that it implements periodically with a team of divers.
Hydrocarbon cleanup
They also point out that Marina Ibiza has been the first marina to install an innovative system for cleaning the water of hydrocarbons through bacteria that are activated in the water and are capable of “eating” the hydrocarbons floating on the surface.
It also supports various activities aimed at protecting the environment and the marine environment. Thus, last Tuesday it participated as a promoter company in the Marine Forum, of which Marina Ibiza was a founder. And it has also been present as a sponsor in a recreational activity organized by Ibiza Preservation to protect the Pitiusa lizard.
