Cases of male violence attended by the Local Police of Ibiza reduced by 23%

The Local Police of Ibiza have assisted a total of 93 women who filed complaints or were victims of male violence this year, in actions related to physical aggression, injury or coercion at the time of the events.

This figure represents a 23% reduction compared to 2024, according to the report prepared by the police force on the occasion of 25N, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The 93 alerts handled were received via the 112 emergency line, witnesses, the victims themselves or other security forces and agencies. All correspond to interventions carried out while the events were taking place, mainly for physical aggression, injuries or coercive situations. By comparison, 121 cases were dealt with in 2024 and 119 in 2023.

Currently, the VioGén Unit of the Ibiza Local Police has 38 cases under its supervision, of which 34 are classified as low risk and four as medium risk. This represents four more cases than last year and 11 more than in 2023.

Municipal commitment

The Councillor for Equality of the Ibiza City Council, Sara Barbado, stated that “the fight against male violence requires a coordinated, immediate and firm response”.

“We will continue strengthening all mechanisms for the care, protection and monitoring of victims, especially through the ongoing work of the VioGén Unit of the Local Police. We cannot let our guard down. Each case reflects a painful reality that needs support, protection and institutions that act responsibly”, she concluded.

Victims of male violence and their immediate circle can seek help through various active resources available every day of the week, 24 hours a day: the helpline 016, the email address 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, and the WhatsApp channel at 600 000 016. In an emergency, you can call 112 or the emergency numbers of the National Police (091) and the Civil Guard (062). If making a call is not possible, there is also the option of activating the ALERTCOPS application, which sends an alert signal with geolocation to the police.
