The Capitanía Marítima de Ibiza y Formentera (Ibiza and Formentera’s Maritime Captaincy) has imposed a bail of 200.000 euros to the luxury mega yacht ‘Attila’ to be able to sail again, after it was stranded in front of the beach of es Pujols in Formentera. This organism belonging to the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine retained the vessel for dangerous navigation close to the coast.
The yacht, valued at 70 million euroshas had to deposit this guarantee in the General Fund of the Tax Agency in order to be able to leave the waters of Ibiza and Formentera, so that it can respond with this guarantee for the penalties that correspond to it for the commission of the alleged administrative infractions, which are: to navigate in a reckless manner, not having the navigation plan and not listening to the instructions of the maritime authority (the Capitanía).
Sources from the Capitanía Marítima explain that this bond is in accordance with the possible sanctions that may be imposedsince it is a foreign yacht belonging to a commercial company, the Administration is thus guaranteed that it will not evade the sanctioning action.
The imposing superyacht, 64 meters in length which is available for charter in Ibiza, ran aground last July 1st while sailing off the east coast of Formentera. The vessel disembarked by its own means the same day, after the Capitanía Marítima asked the shipowner for a refloating plan and a hull inspection, in order to check the safety. Then, at the request of the maritime captain of the Pitiusas Islands, it was subject to a MOU safety inspection in the port of Ibizathe inspection is carried out by the Capitania inspectors to foreign vessels.
The boat was built by Sanlorenzo and launched in 2019, and has a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, according to the file published on the website alquilerdeyatesenibiza.com. Its capacity is six cabins (one of them VIP), each with its own bathroom, for 12 people, plus a crew of 18 crew members. From the lower deck there is access to the 78-square-meter beach club. On the main deck aft there is a swimming pool and an outside dining area with a table for 12, and a large barbecue, whose construction required fireproof stainless steel and an “advanced smoke extraction system”. The crew is accommodated on the lower deck. The furniture was custom-designed, from “high quality” international firms. It also has a gymnasium, spa with massage room, sauna and hammam; jacuzzi on the terrace; a foredeck that can be used as a heliport and in its side-loading garages can store two dinghies of 10 meters in length each.
