Ibiza was the setting this Saturday for the first edition of the Ray of Light Awards in a gala held at the Pereyra Theater, with the participation of stars such as actor Luke Evans, who presented the Ray of Light Award, Argentine actress China Suarez and her boyfriend, soccer player Mauro Icardi, and TV personality Samantha Vallejo-Nágera, who acted as master of ceremonies.
These awards are part of the international multimedia festival ROLAheld on the island from May 29 to 31, 2025. A meeting inspired by the memory of actor Ray Stevenson (1964-2023), who had a very special relationship with Ibiza.
Multimedia creators
The purpose of these awards is to recognize multimedia creators who, “through formats such as feature films, short films, documentaries, animations or web content, are committed to narratives of positive impact that challenge the current social order and promote progress, human connection and an optimistic vision of the future,” according to the organizers.
In the opening speech, Elisabetta Carracia, widow of Ray Stevensonrecalled the figure of her husband and what Ibiza meant to both of them. She shared with those present the origin of these awards, stating: “We have to do something every year to honor Ray, and do it well”.
The projects that have been awarded, among more than 400 nominations are:
Ray of Light Award: Recognizes the most innovative and transcendental content that inspires and imagines a new world: ‘The Heart revolution’ (Benedikt SP Just) and ‘The Twelve’ (La Ciel Foundation).
Gaia Award: Honors content that celebrates the essence and role of women in society: ‘Unmuted: Child Brides’ (Dena Hysell-Cornejo, Gil Marsden).
Youth Award: Awarded to the most inspiring content produced by creators under the age of 25, giving a voice to the younger generation: ‘Entropy’ (Bamdad Aghajani, Arian Navabi).
New Generation Award: Focused on content that inspires and empowers children and teens, fostering their development and creativity: ‘Parallel’ (Majid Farzolahi.
