The strong gusts of wind recorded this Thursday by squall ‘Ciarán‘ caused a large tree to fall this afternoon in the entrance area of the port of Ibiza, next to the Marina neighbourhood.
The tree has just fallen over the statue monument to the ‘hippies’, located in front of the businesses on the city’s seafront. In spite of the size of the specimen, the emblematic figure has not been damaged.
For the moment, the storm has not left serious consequences on the island of Ibiza, although the orange alert remains active and there is a forecast of adverse coastal phenomena, strong gusts of wind and waves up to eight meters high until midnight.
During the afternoon, firefighters have had to remove a sheet metal on the roof of a gas station that was coming off due to the strong wind. The storm has also affected maritime traffic between the islands.
