Konrad squall puts Ibiza on alert: Aemet announces heavy rains and storms on the island

The konrad squall will leave this Thursday heavy rains and storms in Ibiza. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned of rainfall that can reach 12 liters per square meter on the island. Also, the yellow alert has been activated for coastal phenomena in the Pitiusas.

Thus, meteorologists warn of southwest winds, mainly in Formentera and south of Ibiza, with intervals of up to 60 kilometers per hour and waves of two to three meters.

The day has started on the island with intervals of medium and high clouds. However, in the early afternoon, the following are already expected overcast skies with showers, which may be locally strong and accompanied by thunderstorms. According to the Aemet forecast, at around 3 pm, up to 12 liters per square meter could fall in Ibiza.

The maximum temperatures will remain unchangedwith highs of 17 degrees, although lows will drop slightly to 9 degrees.

Yellow alert during Friday morning

The effects of the Konrad squall will continue to be felt on the island on Friday. According to the Aemet forecast, se will register rains and occasional heavy showers and accompanied by thunderstorms, more intense during the first half of the day. Therefore, the yellow alert will be activated again from six in the morning until 15 hours. Rainfall could reach 20 liters per square meter in an hour.

Temperatures will experience a slight decrease, especially at night.
