International passenger traffic at Ibiza airport soared by a staggering 1,101% in April

The Ibiza airport terminal handled 537,064 travelers last month, 409.9% more than in the same month of 2021

The consequences of the restrictions imposed by the covid pandemic are history. At least at Ibiza airport, where in April 537,064 passengers (both arrivals and departures) were handled, representing an increase of 409.9% over the data for the same month last year. A figure that also exceeds that recorded in 2019, when the Ibiza airport accounted for a total of 517,517 users.

Striking post-covid figures for Ibiza airport

The most striking increase occurs in the arrival and departure of travelers with origin or destination in international airports. An increase of 1,101% with respect to April of last year. 280,081 foreign nationals have arrived or left Eivissa by air, almost the same as nationals; 255,953. In this last category, the increase compared to 2021 is 280%.

Data from the statistics of National Airports and Air Navigation (AENA) which were made public this morning, indicate that the airstrip of es Codolar received a total of 5.734 aircraft operations (between landings and take-offs) last month, a figure 159.8% higher than that of April last year.

With these figures, the forecasts of an out-of-the-ordinary, exceptional tourist season, even better than that of 2019, seem to be confirmed. In any case, April was a good month for the sector because Easter fell late, so many entrepreneurs opted to open and link directly with the season, which officially starts on May 1st.
