The dj of the illegal party in Ibiza thomas Wesley Pentz, known as Diplo has been denounced for distributing images and videos of his sexual encounters with a woman without her knowledge or consent.
J.D.’s lawsuit is the second accusation of “revenge” pornography filed in recent years against Diplo. According to her account, the complainant let Diplo know that she did not want him to record her sexual activities without her consent or distribute images or videos to third parties.
In November last year, J.D. claims, another woman she did not know at the time approached her and told her that she was in possession of images and videos of Diplo and her having sex. The woman told J.D. that she received the materials from Diplo via Snapchat in October 2018. The lawsuit claims Diplo continued to distribute intimate images and videos of J.D. up to the present.
On Nov. 7, according to the lawsuit, J.D. reported Pentz to the NYPD and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The NYPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment and it is unclear whether Diplo has been in New York since November.
Separately, in October 2020, a woman named S.A. alleged that Diplo sexually assaulted her, recorded her sexual activity without consent and distributed “revenge” pornography. The two sued each other, he called her a “stalker.” A civil trial is scheduled for January 2025.
J.D. seeks damages from Diplo for violations of revenge porn statutes. “Tragically, this is not the first time the defendant has embarrassed and violated a woman by disseminating intimate images without her consent,” said Helene Weiss, J.D.’s attorney, in a statement. “Diplo’s alleged pattern of unlawful behavior illustrates the harm he has caused J.D. and other young women like her.”
Ibiza Residence
Diplo showed his joy last May on his social networks after having managed to have a residency this summer in Ibiza after 15 years coming to the island. The 45-year-old American DJ, singer-songwriter, composer, rapper and record producer dabbles in various genres from EDM and moombahton through trap, dancehall, electro house and hip hop.
His party will be held on the last Monday of each month throughout the summer: May 27, June 24, July 29, August 26 and September 30.
His nickname comes from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs, particularly diplodocus. In 2005, he founded his record label Mad Decent.
Diplo was nominated at the 2013 Grammy Awards in the category Producer of the Year, in non-classical music. In early 2013 he formed together with Skrillex the project called Jack Ü. He is also the co-founder and leader of the musical project known as Major Lazer. Since 2018 he has been part of the supergroup LSD and the duo Silk City.
