The highly anticipated Ibiza nightclub openings: “Apotheosis post covid”

The nightclub 'openings' attract thousands of tourists from different countries with a common goal: to enjoy Ibiza's nightclubs once again.

The most repeated word since Friday on Ibiza is ‘fiesta in every language. Hundreds of people have travelled to the island just to enjoy the nightclub ‘openings’, and for many, there seems to be more than 24 hours in a day as they’ve even had time to take a dip in the sea.

“When I saw the poster I bought the ticket and booked a hotel for two nights. As I arrived yesterday [Friday], and I wanted to come early to Ushuaïa, I took the opportunity to go to the beach before because tomorrow I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do anything more than take the flight back”, said Martín, who has come from Málaga with a couple of friends, laughing.

The party started under the name ‘Better Together’ at Ushuaïa Ibiza at 12 noon, but an hour before there was already a queue to buy tickets at the box office. And the fact is that the remaining tickets were limited and the online portal had been sold out for weeks.

Uninterrupted music for 12 straight straight with a line-up of six internationally recognized DJs: Layla Benítez, Mathame, Kölsch, Artbat, Stephan Bodzin and Paul Kalkbrenner. Romina and Tiago came all the way from Berlin to see the latter, and by 1pm they were already walking through the door of the nightclub. “It’s the first time we’ve been to Ibiza and our expectations are very high. Without entering you already feel the atmosphere, people are relaxed and happy, so I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like in there,” they said.

“It’s the biggest and best party in Europe, number 1 in Ibiza”, shouted an Italian woman before going through the access control. She had also come for the event, like the vast majority of people who have come to the island this weekend. There are thousands of them and many are easy to identify just by the clothes they wear, sometimes festival-like and flashy.

But ‘Better Together’ did not stop there because, once Ushuaïa closed, the party moved to its sister nightclub: Hï Ibiza. From 11pm yesterday until 12 noon this morning, electronic music lovers could enjoy more than a dozen artists in its three rooms: Hï Theatre (Chloé Caillet, Amémé, Damian Lazarus, The Martínez Brothers, Black Coffee and Paco Osuna), Hï Club (Anfisa Letyago, Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, Charlotte de Witte) and Wild Corner (Pvblic Xcess). In addition, the organization released a different ticket for those who wanted to enjoy the party from 6 am until closing time.

A 24-hour electronic music marathon that has filled Platja d’en Bossa with tourists since the discos opened their doors. There has also been a lot of music this morning in Sant Antoni. The disco Es Paradis has celebrated its opening with a line-up to match: David Moreno, Bruno from Ibiza, Felix da Funk, Danny O, Macho Banana and Nells.

Excitement to raise the nightclub shutters

On Friday Pacha and Amnesia opened and did so with great enthusiasm, but also with the nerves of “the first time”. Closed for more than two years have made everything seem new again, although the illusion remains intact.

Endless queues and people eager to finally step into an Ibiza nightclub is what was seen from midnight in the surroundings of Pacha to attend the party of DJ Solomun. “It was a very emotional day after two years of closure. We were all a bit nervous, but very excited. The sold out sign was hung from practically the first hour of the night and we could feel the good atmosphere of the public, the desire to meet again, dance and laugh”, said a spokesperson from the organization.
