Guardia Civil warns: stone-throwers in Ibiza face hefty fines

Throwing large rocks in nature is an activity as primitive as it is dangerous for the launcher’s pocket, as warned by the Guardia Civil.

The armed institute has reacted in its social networks to the video uploaded by an individual in Picos de Europain which he throws a stone and jocularly celebrates by posing for his buddy, who records the feat.

“Throwing this stone can lead to a fine of 5,001 to 200,000 euros for this person. The reason is that in the Picos de Europa National Park, disturbing the environment is a very serious infraction. Keep this in mind when visiting a national park, an environment especially protected for its environmental value,” warns the Guardia Civil.

Ibiza is no stranger to this type of occurrencesas evidenced by the video that went viral last week, in which a group of young people pushed a large rock off a cliff until it fell into the sea.

The events occurred in Cap Martinet, in the municipality of Santa Eulària. The publication was accompanied by a text that read: “Men throw a rock. Happy men.”. And, once the huge stone fell into the water, everyone started to jump and shout euphorically.
