German tourism in Ibiza and Formentera in figures

The number of German tourists visiting the Pitiusas in 2024 declined for the second consecutive year, falling by 4.96%compared to 2023, with 295,858 arrivals, 15,455 fewer than the previous year, according to Ibestat. Ibiza recorded 266,018 German visitors, down 3.45%, while Formentera saw a sharper decline of 16.6%, welcoming 29,840 tourists. Compared to 2019, overall German arrivals have dropped by 5.4%. CAEB vice-president José Antonio Rosellóattributes the discrepancy between these figures and AENA’s reported 10% rise in passenger traffic from Germany to Ibiza to non-tourist travellers, including second-home owners and Austrians using German airports. He also notes that only 71% of passengers are classified as “pure tourists.” In contrast, German tourism increased by 10% in Mallorcaand Menorca. British tourism to the islands also declined by 7.6% in 2024.
