Formentera hosts a new edition of the Half Marathon and the 8K Sant Ferran–La Savina this Saturday.

Everything is ready for the celebration of the XVI Half Marathon Island of Formentera and the 8K Sant Ferran-La Savina which will be run this Saturday, with the participation of more than 3,500 runners between the two races. The start of the two races will be at 18 hours, the Half Marathonas usual, from the La Mola Lighthouseand the 8K from Sant Ferran. The joint finish line will be located at the Paseo de la Marina de la Savina. Throughout the day this Friday, participants can pick up their bib number and welcome pack in the tent installed in La Savina, which will remain open until 21.30 hours.

The race offers, once again, the possibility of running “the island from end to end to complete the 21,095.2 meters of a half marathon, which is a great incentive for participants and a unique experience”. The race is committed to promoting environmentally friendly practices, reducing disposable plastic and environmental impact. In addition, at the finish line, a rigid water bottle full of water will be handed out to all runners as they cross the finish line, along with the finisher’s medal. And at the start of the Half Marathon, the animation tent will again be located, as it has been the case in recent editions, 500 meters from the actual start of the race, to respect the habitat of the viro as much as possible.

Ecopilas is also present again as a partner, to encourage the recycling of batteries and, in collaboration with the Consell de Formentera and the Government of the Balearic Islands, an activity has been carried out in schools on the island to raise awareness among young people about the importance of recycling a highly polluting material.

Road closures

On the occasion of the celebration of both races, the following road closures will take place: -PM-820 road (Avda. de la Mola), from Can Ribs restaurant to Faro de la Mola (from 15:30 to 18:30 hours) -PM-820 road from Sant Ferran to Pilar de la Mola: -PM-820-2 road, Sant Ferran-La Savina through es Pujols (from 17:30 to 20:45 hours). To ensure the safety of all participants and the perfect development of the event, the organization requests the “maximum cooperation to the rest of the population to live again a great day of sport”.
