A fight in Ibiza over dog urine ends in court conviction

The Provincial Court of Palma has upheld the sentence imposed on an Ibiza resident for a crime of resisting authority and two minor offences of injury, after she assaulted a couple in their seventies and later confronted the police following an argument over her dog urinating at the entrance of their building.

The court rejected the appeal filed by the defendant and fully confirmed the ruling issued by Criminal Court No. 2 of Ibiza, which sentenced her to fines totalling €2,160 and ordered her to compensate her neighbours for the injuries they suffered.

The events took place on 18 January 2024, at around 8:45 p.m., when the couple confronted their neighbour because her dog frequently urinated in the building’s doorway and she failed to clean it up.

The defendant responded with insults as the couple returned to their home, and the situation escalated minutes later. According to the ruling, the woman went to their flat, banged violently on the door “while shouting”, and when the man opened the door in an attempt to calm her down, she lunged at both of them, scratching and hitting them to the point that they required medical attention.
