Expelled from the Formentera cave he had inhabited for a dozen years

The administration has urged the person who had been living there, according to her for twelve years, to remove her belongings and the accumulated rubbish

The Formentera Council has urged a person who had been occupying a cave near the Cap de Barbaria lighthouse as his habitual residence to remove his belongings, abandon the place and “leave it in perfect condition”.

Last Thursday, local Police officers together with a supervisor from the Department of Territorial Planning, went to this cave after learning that it had been inhabited since last year by a person. When they arrived, they found that the cave was “totally conditioned for living, with certain furniture and other belongingsin addition to numerous pieces of garbage”.

The person who occupied this enclave as a habitual residence claimed that he had been living in the cave for more than 12 yearsduring which time he took the opportunity to “to provide it with certain comforts and furnishings”.

From the Environmental Management department, he was reminded that he was committing a irregularity related to illegal camping and gave him a deadline of several days to remove all his things from the cave and proceed to leave it completely clean.
