Elite Corsaris Ibiza: “The fight against intrusion has started well, but we must increase the pressure against pirate cabs”

The Elite Corsaris association of Ibiza, focused on combating illegal activity in the transport sector, ends the year with a degree of optimism due to the strengthening of administrative measures against pirate cabs. However, the overall feeling remains bittersweet after yet another season facing unfair competition from unlicensed drivers and organised groups operating at the airport, on the main beaches and around the island’s nightclubs.

Elite Corsaris spokesman Lolo Ruiz particularly highlights the implementation this year of the Plan de choque contra el intrusismo launched by the Consell de Ibiza, which resulted in the immobilisation of 161 vehicles used as pirate cabs, compared to 92 in 2024. Ruiz also confirms that illegal activity at the airport has decreased, although he notes that it is far from being reduced by 95%, as stated at the Bureau Against Intrusiveness in Transport held late last month.

“It is true that there is 95% less illegal supply during the 12 hours when inspectors are present at the airport. But when they leave, the pirate cab drivers return to their activity”, Ruiz explains.
