On September 25, 2022, a 24-year-old British tourist on vacation in Ibiza, Robyn Eve Maines, died after falling from a height of nine meters in a tourist apartment in the area of Cala de Bou, Sant Josep.
The Civil Guard of Ibiza investigated the facts and, according to the British press, closed the case considering that the fall of the young woman had been fortuitous and ruled out the involvement of any other person in the event.
But today, two years after that fateful event, the Merseyside Police (the county whose capital is Liverpool) has made public that the investigation is still open and that there has been an arrest in London, of a 27-year-old man on suspicion of murder, the Mail reports. Without going into details of when that arrest took place, officers did report that the detainee was released on bail pending further investigation.
This unforeseen twist in the case has prompted Merseyside Police to make a public appeal that if anyone saw or heard anything on September 25 when lawyer Robyn Eve Maines died in Ibiza, to contact the detectives handling the case.
“We just want justice.”
In a communiqué issued by the familyon the occasion of the second anniversary of the woman’s death, they ask the following: “Our beautiful daughter Robyn Eve Maines was tragically taken from us on September 25, 2022 at the Rosamar Hotel in Ibiza. Please, if anyone saw or heard anything at the time, can you come forward and contact the police? We just want justice for Robyn.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan explained to the Wirral Globe, “The Spanish authorities have now concluded their inquiries into Robyn’s death and Merseyside Police are still keeping it open. At the moment, we are treating Robyn’s death as something unexplained“.
