The eleventh and penultimate full moon of 2024, the Beaver Moon, will also be the fourth and final supermoon this year. The November full moon, which looks best when it rises into the sky in an easterly direction during twilight, just as the sun sets in the west, is also called a mourning moon and a frost moon.
The next full moon will occur on november 15, at 9:29 pm. It will coincide with the peak of the annual rainfall of leonid meteors , and will somewhat ruin your visualization.
Why is it a supermoon?
November’s full Moon will be a supermoon because it may appear about 10% larger than its actual size. The third smallest of the four supermoons in 2024 will be 361,866 kilometers (224,853 miles) from Earth. Since the Moon’s orbital path around the Earth is a slight ellipse, there is a pnear point (perigee) and a far point (apogee) each month.
Supermoon is an astrological term for a perigee full Moon, which is slightly larger and brighter than the average full Moon. Astronomers define a perigee full Moon as one that occurs “within 90% of its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit”.
The best time to see the “Beaver Moon
A full Moon is best seen when it appears on the eastern horizon just after the sun has set in the west. It will look more prominent than usual and will be a beautiful dull orange color. The best time to see it will be a few minutes after Moonrise where you are, although it depends on location.
How to view the full beaver Moon
You need to go to a high place facing east or visit an east-facing coast in Ibiza, locations that will give you a clear view of the horizon and the best views of the Moon, clear skies permitting.
Naked eyes are fine for observing the full Moon, but any pair of binoculars will provide an excellent close-up.
When is the next full moon?
The next full Moon after the Beaver Moon will be the Cold Moon on Sunday, December 15: the third full Moon of the fall and the last of the 12 full Moons in 2024.
