The Squid Gastronomy Fair 2024 returns on Saturday October 26 to Sant Carles, as part of the festivities, with a ton of product and about 8,000 tapas ready for your enjoyment, as revealed by Eivissa Sabors. The fair is a commitment to local produce and is organized in collaboration with the Festival Committee, AAVV La Unión, the Confraria de Pescadors d’Eivissa, through Peix Nostrum, and the City Council of Santa Eulària, with the valuable support of the Consell de Ibiza.
It will start at eleven o’clock in the morning with the preparation of the recipes to be served, in the surroundings of the church of Sant Carles. One of the highlights of this fair is its inclusive nature, as it invites both professional chefs and amateur enthusiasts to showcase their culinary talent.
“Participants have the opportunity to present a variety of dishes, from traditional preparations that pay homage to the island’s gastronomic roots to innovative creations that highlight the versatility of squid,” say the organizers.
“Entries are usually received from around twenty groups, which promises an exciting competition and a wide range of delicious dishes,” they note.
The Guild plays a key role in ensuring a fresh and plentiful supply of squid for the participants. It is estimated that up to 8,000 servings may be served.
Games, workshops and music
A unique feature of the Calamari Gastronomic Fair 2024 is its pricing system, which is based on the conversion from euros to ‘carlinos’, the official currency of the patron saint’s festivities. In addition, the fair also offers entertainment for the whole family. A play area and children’s workshops give the little ones the opportunity to have fun and learn while the adults enjoy the culinary delights and music.
During the weekend the live music will be a central part of the event, enlivening the day from 6 pm to 11.30 pm, with concerts by bands such as Ésta me la sé or La Movida Band.
To make the visit even more comfortable and easy, about 5,000 parking spaces will be available throughout the core of Sant Carles, which will facilitate access.
In addition, as part of the Squid Fair, also include professional conferences, aimed at specialists in the gastronomic sector. They include intensive workshops, round tables and conferences on the latest culinary trends, sustainability and cooking techniques to prepare different dishes. n
