Controllers’ strike disrupts Ibiza airport: 69 flights delayed, one cancelled

Saturday left a complicated balance at Ibiza airport, where 69 flights were delayed and one was canceled. Due to the French air traffic controllers’ strike, es Codolar has experienced one of the most chaotic days of this summer.

Although airport authorities have not officially confirmed the causes, everything points to the delays being related to this labor protest in France, which has been affecting European airspace since last Friday.

In the case of Ibiza, many flights to and from countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and the Netherlands have been affected, with delays of between 45 minutes and more than three hours in some cases. There were 46 flights that departed more than an hour lateand nine of them were delayed for more than two hours.

The cancelled flight was operated by Iberia, a regional route scheduled at 21.30 with departure from Ibiza and destination Valencia which never took off.

This strike by Welsh controllers has forced a change in the use of airspace in much of Europe, affecting not only commercial flights, but also several private flights.
