Consell de Formentera launches campaign to reduce plastic use

The Consell de Formentera launches a campaign aimed at reducing the use of single-use plastics in the commercial sector. The insular institution explains in a press release that the initiative responds to the growing concern about the environmental problems associated with disposable plastics, elements that represent a significant challenge to the sustainability of the planet.

This project seeks to turn local businesses into protagonists of change and proposes that merchants and consumers adopt more responsible and environmentally friendly practices. The campaign introduces an innovative proposal by combining sustainability and craftsmanship. To this end, ‘tote bags’ have been made with recycled and recyclable materials with the campaign image, by artist Fran Lucas Simón.

Integration of sustainable practices

This approach promotes the reduction of plastic waste and highlights the value of art as a cultural and creative driver to create a unique link between commerce, environment and local tradition. This action represents a firm step towards the integration of sustainable practices in the day-to-day running of businesses, while raising public awareness of the importance of reducing environmental impact.
