The Consell de Ibiza plans to hire a private investigation company to detect illegal parties and alert the police in order to curb their proliferation. This was one of the measures announced yesterday after a meeting between the island institution, representatives of the municipalities, the Island Directorate of the General Administration of the State and the various police forces, in which it was agreed to create a protocol to act against these underground leisure businesses.
After the meeting, the Councillor for Tourism Planning and Fight against Intrusion, Mariano Juan, warned that these illegal parties, which take advantage of the closure of nightlife, are being held in all kinds of houses on rural land, even in garages, and not only in tourist homes. In fact, of the 33 reports issued by the Policía Local Police de Sant Antoni, “only three were in tourist homes,” he said. With these clarifications, Mariano Juan was referring, without naming him, to the spokesman of the Balearic Government, Iago Negueruela, who last week pointed out that the Ibiza Council was responsible for acting against these events, as it is responsible for tourism planning.
