The price of petrol has started an escalation that seems to have no end since last November. This March the price of fuel has exceeded 2 euros per litre. In addition, the price of fuel on Ibiza and Formentera is always higher than in the rest of Spain.
Pitiusan consumers continue to pay the most for fuel in Spain, a situation that has been repeated in recent years, but which is now much more noticeable with the progressive increase in the price of petrol at the fuel stations.
According to a study published at the end of last year, at the fuel stations on Menorca and Ibiza have higher prices for both petrol and diesel, than those on Mallorca. Diesel prices place them among the most expensive in the country. The market analysis showed that the sales prices set by the big companies are practically identical. And it is the independent companies that sell fuel at a lower price, due to the fact that their expenditure is also much lower.
Since the beginning of 2021, the price of petrol has increased by almost 32%, while diesel has risen by 35%. However, with respect to the beginning of the week, it seems to have fallen slightly, by around a couple of cents per litre. Today the two Repsol petrol stations located at the exit of Vila, in the direction of Santa Eulària, have the cheapest petrol: at 1.859 euros per liter. Four cents less than on Monday, when the cheapest fuel was at 1.899 euros per liter. Diesel, which was on a par with petrol at the beginning of the week, has also been reduced. Specifically, it has dropped from 1.899 euros per litre to 1.819 euros at the new service station at ca n’Escandell.

The price of the petrol set a record high at the beginning of March, with petrol 98 exceeding 2 euros per liter. Although it also seems to be falling. This Friday at Vila’s fuel stations it has now returned to below 2 euros. At the two Repsol fuel stations on carratera de Santa Eulària (leaving Vila), it can be found at 1.989 euros per litre. On Monday the most expensive 98 petrol reached 2.09 euros at some fuel stations on the island.
