Ibiza continues to attract the attention of the major companies dedicated to the food. Now, a large chain is announcing that it plans to to open two new supermarkets on the island during the year 2025.
This supermarket chain entered the Spanish market in 2002 and currently has more than 460 stores and more than 7,500 employees. “It is one of the leading supermarkets in Spain” and, as explained in a press release, it has “a business model based on discounting”.
It is the German company ALDI, which explains that the key to its success lies in “its more than 91,000 employees in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain.”.
Aldi explains in a press release that “maintains its commitment to continue growing in the Balearic Islands and announces that it plans to open five new stores,” including two in Ibiza, where it already operates one in the municipality of Sant Josep.
Plans for 2025
The plans of this company will be developed throughout this year, but from its press office they did not specify when they plan to open these two new supermarkets on the island.
“ALDI has maintained a sustained growth over the last few years in the Balearic Islands, where already has a total of 14 establishments y more than 200 workers.”. The company adds that it “has almost 17,000 m 2 sales room on Balearic soilcounting the 4,000 m2 that were added to the last four openings held in the municipalities of Can Picafort y Palma-Can Domenge (Mallorca) and Maó y Ciutadella (Menorca). In fact, the chain arrived for the first time on the island of Menorca in 2023 with these two openings”.
Looking ahead to 2025, ALDI “wants to continue to bring its discount and low-price shopping option closer to Balearic households. For this reason, will increase the number of stores it has in the archipelago by 35%” with the planned opening of 5 new stores during the year”.
