“Coliseum”, “Agora”, “emblematic building”, “work of art”, “jewel perfectly set in the bay” … were many terms with which the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium was defined during its inauguration yesterday. Guerrero began his speech by quoting the poet from Granada Federico García Lorca and highlighting the value of culture and then listed the virtues and highlight the potential of this new infrastructure “with which Sant Josep wants to compensate its historical debt with the residents of Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent”. He also stressed that the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium “is the first stone of a major plan to transform the neighborhood, providing more services. “This centre, the extension of the medical centre, the new social services headquarters, municipal offices and the future promenade of Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent will shape a new physical and social landscape for this neighbourhood”, he assured.

During his speech, the mayor of Sant Josep recalled the delays and setbacks suffered by this project, which began eight years ago, and thanked his predecessors, Josep Marí Ribas Agustinet and Neus Marí, and “the driving force behind this infrastructure, María Ángeles Mostazo“. There were also words of appreciation for José Antonio Ruiz Jiménez, the architect of “a unique space”, which, he said, will help to revitalize the area of Cala de Bou. The challenge now, said Guerrero, “is to give life” to this center and “ensure that this work of art does not become a fossil over the years. The will of the municipal administration is to design an attractive and committed offering,” he said after inviting the residents of the area to enjoy this facility, which is both a theatrical and concert space, cinema, conference and congress hall and exhibition space.
