Daniel Sancho has already been sentenced to life imprisonment in Thailand for dismembering and killing his close friend, physician Edwin Arrieta. But although the case is closed, new information continues to emerge about the relationship that both maintained and that contain some interest when it comes to understanding why the chef and son of actor Rodolfo Sancho decided to murder the Colombian surgeon.
The program ‘Fiesta’ of Telecinco has discovered more information about both of them, days before they traveled to Thailand, where the dismemberment occurred. As they have explained, the high standard of living that both were leading was evident in a few days of vacation that Sancho and Arrieta spent in Ibiza before flying to Asia. Although the writer and journalist Joaquín Campos assures in his book based on his own investigation of this case, ‘Muerte en Tailandia’, that Arrieta and Sancho were planning to spend a vacation in Ibiza before going to Thailand, but finally changed their minds, Telecinco has proof that they were indeed on the island.
Here they stayed a few days on a luxurious yacht that, according to ‘Fiesta’, anchored in front of the beach of ses Salines and from time to time sailed to Formentera, to return to the same point again.
Breakfast with LSD
Who has revealed this information is the paparazzi Sergio Garrido, resident in Ibiza. According to him, “during those four days they had breakfast with LSD, the parties were continuous and all this led to a monumental fight that almost ended with both of them in the water. Afterwards, they went down to a restaurant to eat and went to a supermarket where they only bought alcoholic beverages”.
Some witnesses have explained to Garrido that the couple hardly bought any food when they left the boat: most of their provisions were alcoholic and they would have spent some 20.000 euros a week on the rental of the sailboat alone.
A TV series
The case of Edwin Arrieta’s murder at the hands of Daniel Sancho has been so high-profile that in addition to the publication of books, SkyShowtime has just released its new documentary series, ‘Recipe for Murder,’ which airs today, Monday, February 24. The first three episodes are available as of that date, with new episodes airing weekly thereafter.
‘Receta para un asesinato’ is directed by documentary filmmaker José Gómez (’11M: Terror en Madrid’) and narrates the violent death of Arrieta in Thailand at the hands of Sancho, as well as the subsequent investigation and the role of the Thai judicial system, the media and even the audience itself, as reported by SkyShowtime.
