One arrested in Ibiza in operation against jihadist terrorism

The National Police arrested early Friday morning, in an operation in the city of joint operation with the Moroccan Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), four people in Ceuta and five others elsewhere, including one in Ibiza, for their alleged involvement in crimes related to jihadist terrorism.

The Superior Police Headquarters has informed that the arrests take place within the framework of an investigation led by the Audiencia Nacional. In addition, other arrests have been made in different parts of Spain and Morocco.

As reported by Ceuta TV, in total, the number of detainees in this operation against jihadist terrorism would amount to 9, the four arrested in Ceuta to which are added those arrested in Tetuan and Castillejos and two others arrested in our country, specifically in Madrid and Ibiza.

A terrorist cell

The searches carried out in the homes of the accused, in the framework of this joint and simultaneous security operation between the Moroccan and Spanish security services, the seizure of sharp-edged weapons and computer equipmentwhich will be subjected to the necessary digital expertise, according to a press release from the Moroccan BCIJ (Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations) published in the Moroccan press.

According to preliminary investigations, the defendants, including former detainees in terrorism cases in Spain, promoted the thought of ‘Daesh’ and held meetings in Sebta and Tetouan, as part of the planning and coordination aimed at committing terrorist acts in the name of Daeshbefore becoming part of this terrorist organization’s branch in the sub-Saharan Sahel region.
