The most ambitious edition of the Formentera Jazz Festival gets under way

Ignoring the well-known phrase ‘if something goes well, don’t touch it’, the organizers of the Formentera Jazz Festival have taken advantage of the 11th edition of this event to go a little further, to launch themselves into the adventure and multiply the stages where they present their music. This is how they explained it this Tuesday Maxwell Moya, Guilherme de Anchieta and Juanjo Rodríguez during the press conference in which they presented this year’s novelties, among them the performance of the youth orchestra Rhythm of the island, composed of music students from Formentera between seven and 12 years old who will be going on stage for the first time on Saturday 7th at 1 pm at Sa Panxa, in Sant Ferran.

But before that day, the rhythm and the good atmosphere that characterizes this festival will have already taken over the island, starting with the concerts scheduled for Thursday, June 5. The first will take place at 17.30 hours at the Mola Market, with Malinga Da Morte and surprise performances by other live musicians. From 10 p.m. onwards, the music will move tohe village of Pilar de la Mola, where Carolina Alabau and Enrique Malanga & Ric Jazzbo will perform will take over to keep the party going until after midnight.

The fridaythe festival returns to its place of origin, the plaza de la Constitució de Sant Francesc, with the performance of Juanjo Rodríguez Trío, Alana Sinkey and Djiva from ten o’clock at night and until the body endures.

The saturdaydouble ration of jazz and its musical derivatives, first at Sa Panxa, in Sant Ferran, with a Jazz Picnic starring Sellés Latin Quarterwhich will act on the 13.30 hoursafter the guys from Ritmo de la isla. Starting at 22 hours, return to Sant Francesc to enjoy La Mola Jazz Cats, Carlos Sarduy & The Groove Messengers and Nickodemus.

The sundaythe end of the festival will be one more year a jam session led by Magdawhich will have two parts, the first one focused on jazz rhythms and the second one open to all kinds of music. It will take place in Ses Roques, in Sant Ferran. With this, the FJF will say “thank you very much and see you next year”.
