A cold front will cross the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands this Tuesday and will leave rains in most of the peninsular territory, with nine provinces in warning for waves, wind and fog, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
In the case of Ibiza and Formentera no alerts of any kind have been activated in principle.
The Aemet has advanced that the front will leave a predominance of cloudy or weak skies and rainfall, generally weak, that could reach the islands at the end of the day. By areas, these rains are expected to be more abundant in mountain environments of the northern half, Cantabrian and eastern Catalonia, where they will be persistent and possible storms. On the other hand, there is little chance of reaching the extreme southeast peninsular and Alborán.
The state agency expects them to be of snow in the Cantabrian Mountains, northern Iberian and Pyrenees and are not ruled out in other mountains of the northern half. The elevation will be above 1,500 meters, but will drop to 900-1,200 meters.
Otherwise, in the Canary Islands there will be predominantly clear skies with probable entry of light haze from the southeast and in Galicia and the peninsular mountains, likely mist and frontal fog banks.
Temperatures
Regarding temperatures, highs will increase on Mediterranean coasts. At the other extreme, there will be decreases in the rest, which will be locally notable in the Cantabrian and mountainous systems of the northern half. In addition, minimum temperatures will drop moderately in the northwestern third of the peninsula and will rise moderately in the east and southeast.
Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands, there will be little change or slight increases in both maximum and minimum temperatures and there will be weak frosts in the mountains of the northern half, moderate in the Pyrenees. In this framework, the provincial capitals with the highest maximums forecast are Malaga, Murcia and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with 23ºC.
The forecast also reflects that this Tuesday will be dominated by southwest winds in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, turning to west or northwest as the day goes by. On the coasts and in the peninsular east third will be moderate and in the rest, generally light. They are likely intervals of strong and / or very strong gusts in the Cantabrian Sea, Alboran and, at the end, of cierzo in the lower Ebro and tramontana in Ampurdán. In the Canary Islands, there will be moderate wind from the east and northeast.
