The Aemet warns of an abrupt change of weather in Ibiza and Formentera: heavy rain and storms

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has reported that from Wednesday there will be showers and thunderstorms that may be strong or very strong in Ibiza and Formentera.

In Ibiza, the forecast for Wednesday is for showers throughout the day with a tendency to decrease in the afternoon. Thursday will also rain to a lesser extent and will give way to a weekend with clearings and clouds.

The Aemet has activated for midnight on Thursday 21 until 6 am the yellow alert on the islands for rainfall of up to 30 liters per square meter per hour, which could be accompanied by storms.

This Tuesday 19 remains the yellow risk for high temperatures until 19 hours in the Pitiusas with highs of 36 degrees.

Temperatures will be declining throughout the week, especially during the day, with highs of 30 degrees. Nighttime temperatures will remain high, with tropical nights until Sunday. Only on Thursday morning the Aemet forecasts that the minimum will be 19 degrees.

Torrid night

The Pitiusas lived a torrid night on Tuesday with minimums of 25 degrees in Sant Joan and 26 degrees in the rest of Ibiza and Formentera.

The highest temperature recorded on Monday in the Balearic Islands was 38.5 in Sant Antoni. The average of the archipelago has been 35 degrees, with an anomaly of 4.8 degrees above the climatic average values, highlights the Aemet.
