The Formentera Jazz Festival brings back live concerts to sa Senieta

Malinga da Morte, Yakari & Marie Connery, Yadira Ferrer, Federico Nathan, and Valmuz will all perform at the festival

The seventh edition of the Formentera Jazz Festival (FJF) is held this year in a hybrid format, between face-to-face and virtual, from 23 to 26 September. The stage for the main concerts of the program, which was made public yesterday by the organization, will be in the courtyard of Sa Senieta, in Sant Francesc.

Nature is also a common theme in the extensive program of events promoted by the area of Tourism in the coming weeks, as the Save Posidonia Project, the Formentera Fotográfica, the Formentera Zen, the Half Marathon and the Olympic Triathlon.

The FJF reaffirms its goal of connecting the public with nature and the magic of the island through live music, according to the organisers. The festival will have a format that will combine live performances with audiences and transmissions through sound connections, using online playback as a broadcasting tool.

The festival begins on Thursday 23rd September with an online talk by marine biologist, Manu San Félix, entitled: ‘Salvemos nuestro Mediterráneo’ (Let’s save our Mediterranean), this inaugural day will culminate in the Blue Bar with the group Malinga da Morte.

The sound connections will be transmitted from different locations, these online broadcasts begin on Friday at 12 noon with the “Conexión sonora del Faro” (Lighthouse Sound Connection), from Cap de Barbaria.

The live part will be on 24th of September in the courtyard of sa Senieta, with a live performance by the local band Yakari & Casa Connery. The evening will close with the singer Yadira Ferrer. On Saturday, at 12 noon, the virtual screens of the festival will open with the “Conexión sonora desde el mar” (Sound Connection from the Sea) from different beaches and underwater environments. In the evening, the festival will unite again with the public in sa Senieta with the Uruguayan violinist, Federico Nathan, followed by a performance by the group Valmuza.

Formentera Jazz will close the festival with some of the musicians participating in the jam-session, on Sunday 26th at 8:30 pm at Chezz Gerdi.

All events are free, but for all venues it is essential to reserve seats, limited to capacity, by making reservations by e-mail.
