Floods in some parts of Ibiza due to heavy rains

The heavy rains that have occurred in different parts of Ibiza and Formentera throughout the day have caused some punctual flooding, especially in the area of the airport and ses Salines, from the center of Vila to the area of sa Blanca Dona and on the coast of Santa Eulària, but also in the north of the island. In the afternoon, rainfall is also affecting Sant Antoni and Sant Josep.

The city councils of Sant Josep and Santa Eulària have suspended all municipal activities planned for today to avoid risks, and have recommended private entities to do the same, following the guidelines coming from the General Directorate of Emergencies: “It is has recommended to sports clubs, apimas and other entities that organize extracurricular or leisure activities the suspension of the same in order not to generate displacements”, have indicated from the Consistporio de Santa Eulària, which has canceled the classes of the Municipal School of Music, as well as the programming of the Punt Jove. The State Meteorological Agency has warned that very heavy to torrential rains and showers will be recorded from Tuesday until at least Friday on the Mediterranean coast and western Andalusia. In addition, until Wednesday are expected accumulated up to 150 liters per square meter (l/m2) in 24 hours in the Pitiusas and Mallorca.

Specifically, the state agency has issued a special warning of adverse phenomena that is anticipated that a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) will move this Tuesday from France towards the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands and that will remain in the vicinity of Spain until at least Friday 15.
