You know the tourist season is truly over when the popular gastronomic fairs start returning to the towns of Ibiza. And this Saturday marks the first one: the Fira des Calamar in Sant Carles. The event will feature competitions, tastings and plenty of music, with three concerts rounding off the day — Canallas del Guateke, Gran Reserva and Projecte Mut, who are celebrating 20 years on stage.
The fair is part of the Sant Carles festival programme, but the celebrations continue elsewhere too. In Cala de Bou, festivities take place on Saturday with the CDB Exprés, known as the “rock train”, offering tapas and live music throughout the day, and finishing with a concert by Soraya at the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium.
In Sant Rafel, Friday is music night, with performances by Dr. Trapero and Estopaos — a tribute band to Estopa — under the big tent. On Sunday, the village will also host the Fira Rural, postponed two weeks ago due to bad weather, and that same day the church will see the premiere of the cantata Camins d’Història.
