Lucía Herranz, Isabel Albaladejo and Llorenç Prats take the stage this Thursday at 8.30 pm for a concert designed to make opera more accessible, entertaining and relaxed.

Opera is stepping away from its more formal image for an evening of music and humour in Ibiza. Can Ventosa Theatre will host Tardeo entre sopranos on Thursday, October 22, at 8.30 pm, bringing three Ibiza-born or Ibiza-based musicians together on stage: soprano Lucía Herranz, mezzo-soprano Isabel Albaladejo and pianist Llorenç Prats.

Under the slogan “Opera, laughter and good company”, the concert offers a fresh way to experience classical vocal music, with an informal format designed to challenge some of the genre’s traditional conventions.

Organised by Ibiza Town Hall through its Department of Culture, the event is open to all audiences, from established opera enthusiasts to those curious about discovering this musical style for the first time.

Conceived as an afternoon-style social gathering centred on opera, the performance will take audiences through different musical landscapes, led by two voices and a piano. The programme combines musical excellence with entertainment and a close connection with the audience, creating a relaxed atmosphere in which to switch off from everyday routines.

Ibiza Town Hall’s councillor for Culture, Carmen Domínguez, highlights the importance of supporting activities that introduce different art forms to new audiences.

“We want culture to be part of our residents’ everyday lives and for venues such as Can Ventosa to become places for people to meet, enjoy themselves and discover something new,” she says.

Domínguez believes the show demonstrates that “classical vocal music can also be fun, surprising and accessible without compromising artistic excellence.”

Three Musicians from Ibiza

Soprano Lucía Herranz, born in Ibiza in 1980, has built an extensive career spanning classical music, opera and chamber music. She trained at the Liceu Conservatory of Music in Barcelona under soprano Carmen Bustamante and has developed a repertoire ranging from Spanish vocal music to musical theatre and music hall.

She is currently a member of the groups Art3 and Dúo Lahv, while also collaborating with various musical ensembles.

Pianist Llorenç Prats Boscà studied at the Salamanca Higher Conservatory of Music, where he received the End-of-Degree Award, before continuing his training at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.

His work as a soloist and chamber musician places particular emphasis on vocal repertoire. He also teaches chamber music at the Balearic Islands’ Higher Conservatory of Music.

Completing the trio is mezzo-soprano Isabel Albaladejo, who will share the stage with Herranz and Prats in a performance built around the interplay between the two voices, piano accompaniment and direct engagement with the audience.
