The pandemic’s positive evolution and the health care situation on the island of Ibiza has made it possible to lift the ban on gatherings of non-cohabitants between 2am and 6am. Ibiza was the only island in the Balearic Islands where this night-time restriction was still in force to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The 14-day cumulative incidence on the island has fallen from 350 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the threshold that determines the application of restrictions. Now, pandemic restrictions are the same on all the islands, with restaurants and bars closing at 2am (unless municipal by-laws stipulate an earlier time).
The Conselleria de Salud y Consumo has issued a resolution lifting the ban on night-time social and family gatherings between non-cohabitants on the island of Ibiza, a measure that will come into force at midnight on 15th September (i.e. today at midnight). Thus, no island has the restrictions set out in the ‘Consolidated Plan for the prevention, containment and coordination measures to deal with the health crisis caused by covid-19’, which are determined based on the 14-day cumulative incidence and the occupation of hospital wards and intensive care units. Epidemiological data from 10th September shows a 14-day cumulative incidence per 100,000 population of 276.6 cases, which means that night-time meetings can be re-authorised.
