Ibiza Town Council presents its new campaign at London’s World Travel Market, highlighting the city’s culture, heritage and gastronomy, with a soundtrack by Mallorcan band Xanguito.
Knowing Ibiza does not necessarily mean having discovered everything its capital has to offer. That is the message behind ‘¿Conoces Ibiza? Ahora descubre Eivissa’ (‘Know Ibiza? Now Discover Eivissa’), a new tourism campaign unveiled by Ibiza Town Council at the World Travel Market in London on Tuesday.
The initiative aims to attract travellers interested in the city’s culture, traditions and gastronomy, particularly those looking to visit outside the busy summer season.
At the heart of the campaign is a promotional video featuring ‘Viatjarem’ by Mallorcan band Xanguito. The video celebrates Eivissa’s local identity and showcases what the city has to offer throughout the year.
Ibiza Town is taking part in the London tourism fair within the exhibition area of the Ibiza Island Council. This year’s World Travel Market runs from 3 to 5 November.
An invitation to discover Ibiza Town at a slower pace
Tourism councillor Rubén Sousa explained that the campaign is aimed both at people who have already visited Ibiza and at travellers who mainly associate the island with summer, beaches and nightlife.
“Eivissa is much more than a summer destination. It is a city with history, a strong cultural identity, its own gastronomy and a vibrant life that continues throughout all twelve months of the year,” he said.
Culture, heritage and gastronomy are the three main pillars of the campaign. The Town Council wants to appeal to visitors interested in discovering local traditions and exploring the city at a more relaxed pace.
Sousa also stressed that extending tourism activity beyond the summer must go hand in hand with a model that respects the municipality and its residents.
“Our identity, our customs and our heritage are precisely what make us different, and what we must protect,” he said.
Promoting Ibiza Town for conferences, weddings and business events
The London event is also an opportunity to promote Ibiza Town as a destination for meetings, conferences, incentive trips and business events, as well as weddings and other celebrations.
To support this positioning, the Town Council is highlighting the city’s range of hotels, cultural attractions, shops and restaurants, alongside its Mediterranean climate and the appeal of its historic and heritage sites.
The wider aim is to spread tourism activity more evenly throughout the year, bringing benefits to local shops, restaurants and service businesses.
“Our objective is to make the most of this potential to generate economic activity outside the summer season too,” Sousa said, linking the strategy to the need to respect the city’s identity and ensure tourism brings benefits to local residents.
