Mourning in Sant Joan. Jaume Manec, a resident of Sant Vicent de sa Cala, died this Friday in a tragic accident while he was on his farm, located just one kilometre from the Camp d’Aprenentatge de sa Cala. According to Diario de Ibiza, the man was felling a tree when it fell on him. The accident occurred at 3:15 p.m., and the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard removed the body at around five o’clock in the afternoon.
The City Council of Sant Joan has decided to suspend the Christmas lights switch-on event, which was scheduled for 6 p.m. this Friday, “as a sign of respect after learning of the death” of this resident. “The Council wishes to publicly convey its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones, sharing their grief”, the local government said in a statement. It added: “The City Council regrets any inconvenience that this cancellation may cause and appreciates the understanding of all citizens at such a sensitive time”.
