Juan Manuel Moreno, master baker, in Ibiza: “The most expensive bread in the world, at 10,750 euros, is almost the same as the cheapest in the bakery”

If you were to close your eyes and open your mouth… would you be able to distinguish a “normal” bread from one costing more than ten thousand euros? Juan Manuel Moreno, a baker known for creating several varieties of the world’s most expensive bread (made with gold and silver), says you wouldn’t: “They are almost the same”. In addition to luxury loaves, Moreno also makes “village bread”, which he sells for just over two euros, ever since his wife inherited a family business run by three generations. Thanks to that legacy—and Moreno’s innovative spirit—the Málaga bakery Pan Piña is now known around the world.

Whether his breads feature gold, silver, flowers, or simply seeds, they sell. How and why? Moreno will explain this Friday (his first time in Ibiza) at 1:15 p.m. at the ‘Ingenion’ Entrepreneurs Forum, promoted by the Santa Eulària City Council, at the Jesús Cultural Centre.
